Personal Space…Where Are You?

IMG_0303

The other day, as I was in the bathroom getting ready for the day I found myself surrounded by one toddler, two cats, and two dogs. It was at this point I began singing a little song to myself, to the tune of “Where, Oh Where Has My Little Dog Gone”. Which now that I think about it, was a little ironic seeing how both of my dogs were closing in on my space.

Anyway…

Where, oh where has my personal space gone?

Oh where, oh where can it be?

With fingers under the bathroom door

And a cat on my pillow

Oh where, oh where can it be?

I think it left when we adopted our first cat

And now the second is always my hat.

Where, oh where has my personal space gone?

Oh where, oh where can it be?

With a toddler hanging on

And two dogs at my feet

Oh where, oh where can it be?

I last had it when I shut myself in the laundry room

To the sound Ella cries, a meow, and a woof

I just can’t see it anymore

For the wagging tails do loom

Perhaps I’ll find it in a few short years

But the outlook is dim,

For Ella really loves to play Mama Jungle Gym.

Where, oh where has my personal space gone?

Oh where, oh where can it be?

Even though the dogs run by and I get shoved

There is nothing better than feeling so loved.

And I’m OK with my personal space

As far away as can be.

  1. You know how we moms of older kids sometimes say things to you like, “That will get better.” or “Only a few years of that?” I’m sorry to tell you this, Jenn, but you’re never getting your personal space back. Not until college, as far as I can tell, anyway.
